APPALACHIA IS LUSH ::: 5 Goals for 2019
Our goal at Appalachian Lush is to explore southern Appalachia's best eateries, beverage producers, food and drinking traditions, and rich culinary history. This year we will focus on:
# 1. VISIT 12 REGIONAL DISTILLERIES
Over the past decade, dozens of small batch and craft spirit distilleries have popped up in Appalachia. We'll be featuring (at least) twelve this year, discussing their origin, product lines and facility tours. We have a list of locations we'd like to visit in the works, but we would love to hear from you. What are your favorite producers? Who should we visit first?
# 2. DISCOVER 6 REGIONAL WINE MAKERS
No one thinks of Appalachia as wine country, but we're here to prove you wrong.
# 3. TEST OUT 6 NEW REGIONALLY SOURCED INGREDIENTS AND FLAVORS
It's time to go foraging and talk about Appalachian ingredients that are hard (or impossible) to come by anywhere else.
# 4. INTERVIEW 6 REGIONAL CHEFS ABOUT TRADITIONAL APPALACHIAN CUISINE
We are really, really looking forward to chatting history, methodology and preparation with a few of our favorite regional culinary gods.
# 5. LEARN MORE ABOUT ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY IN FOOD AND BEVERAGE PRODUCTION IN APPALACHIA
What does the future of Appalachia look like? What movements are taking place to keep our region healthy environmentally and economically as we move into the future?
